Post‑Construction & Final Cleaning

Rough, final, and touch‑up cleaning for general contractors, homebuilders, and remodelers across the Iowa City / Cedar Rapids Corridor. We're the last trade on the job — dust‑free and inspection‑ready, on your closing date.

What it covers

Three phases, from debris‑out to handover‑ready

Post‑construction cleaning isn't one job — it's a sequence that tracks your build. Broom Finish works all three phases, and we scope each one on‑site so the number matches the actual condition, not a guess. We walk every site before we bid; you'll never get a sight‑unseen price from us.

Phase 1 — Rough clean

After the major trades rough‑in and before finish work starts. We haul out construction debris, knock down the heavy dust, clean out interiors, and prep surfaces so finish trades — paint, floor, cabinet, trim — can work in a clean space. A good rough clean protects the finish work that follows.

Phase 2 — Final detail clean

The one everyone means when they say "final clean." Fine construction dust removed from every surface, top to bottom; windows and glass detailed with paint, stickers, and labels removed; fixtures, cabinets, and appliances cleaned inside and out; floors detailed to their finished state. This is the pass that has to be inspection‑ready and photo‑ready for the client walkthrough.

Phase 3 — Touch‑up before handover

Between final clean and the client walkthrough, dust settles and trades come back for punch‑list items. We do a touch‑up pass right before handover so the space is spotless the moment your client sees it — not the day before.

Confused about scope? "Broom clean" and "final clean" are not the same standard — and getting the two mixed up in a contract causes disputes. We break it down in broom clean vs. final clean.

Detail scope, item by item

  • Construction dust removed from walls, ledges, trim, vents, and fixtures
  • Windows, tracks, sills, and glass — paint, adhesive, and label removal
  • Cabinets and drawers cleaned inside and out; hardware wiped
  • Appliances detailed, protective film removed
  • Bathrooms and kitchens detailed to move‑in condition
  • Floors vacuumed and finished per material — tile, LVP, hardwood, polished concrete
  • Fixtures, switch plates, and registers wiped down

Built around your schedule and site rules

Closing dates hold; construction dates slip. We build slack into our schedule for exactly that, and we follow your site's safety and access protocols while other trades are still finishing. HEPA‑filtered equipment keeps fine dust down instead of just moving it around.

What to expect on pricing

Post‑construction work is priced per square foot, by phase, after a site walk. Rough, final, and touch‑up are scoped separately so you only pay for the phases you need. For how contractors should think about a fair number, see what post‑construction cleaning costs in Iowa.

Questions

Post-construction cleaning FAQs

What's the difference between rough, final, and touch‑up?
Rough clean clears debris and heavy dust so finish trades can work. Final clean is the detailed, dust‑free, inspection‑ready pass. Touch‑up is a light pass right before the client walkthrough to catch dust that settled after final.
Do you work while other trades are still on site?
Yes. We coordinate around your schedule and follow site safety and access rules. We also know construction dates move, so we keep our schedule flexible.
Can you meet a hard closing date?
That's the core of what we do. Give us the date and we build the work back from it. Call early and we can usually walk the site the same week.
How is post‑construction cleaning priced?
Per square foot, by phase, after an on‑site walk. You only pay for the phases you book — rough, final, touch‑up, or all three.
Do you remove stickers, paint, and labels from windows?
Yes — glass and window detail including adhesive, paint overspray, and manufacturer labels is part of the final clean.
Are you licensed and insured for jobsite work?
Yes — Broom Finish Cleaning Co. is a licensed and fully insured Iowa LLC.
